Valerie takes a personal interest in the linear bearings that go into our Print Farm.
First she loads up a carrier with 10 bearings, and submerges them in 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, she places this on a stirring table to keep a constant motion. She gives it ten minutes on the stirring table, then the bearing carrier with the hand selected bearings is moved to a large Ultrasonic cleaner, where the bearing carrier is submerged for an additional 5 minutes of high pitched annoying noise treatment.
Valerie then decaps each bearing and gently removes the runner (The part inside, that holds the ball bearings into the bearing race), the bearings are emptied into a bath of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and the races are gently deburred using a red rouge paste on a micro bit. The Ball bearings are pulled from the 99% Isopropyl alcohol bath and dried under a warm air blast. The ball bearings are then placed into an aluminum oxide powder and vibrated for 15 minutes. These are taken, filtered out of the aluminum oxide powder and again given a quick dip into the Isopropyl alcohol and of course dried once more.
All exterior parts and internal races are bathed once again in 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, pulled from their bath and given a hot air blast – hot enough to evaporate off any remaining alcohol, cool enough not to damage any of the parts.
All parts are then carefully inspected under a stereoscopic microscope.
Finally, Valerie reassembles each linear bearing with the requisite 96 ball bearings, the runners are replaced and a careful application of SuperLube is applied, enough to coat all the interior surfaces, not enough to bind up the ball bearings in the races. Ensuring a smooth, long life.
Valerie takes her linear bearings seriously. Each linear bearing is then individually packed into a greaseproof, waterproof bag.
You can not buy a finer, more bespoke linear bearing for 20X the price.
Sold Individually. You need 10 Bearings for the Prusa MK3, MK3s or MK3S+ / 5 LM8UU bearings for the Prusa Mini.
