Well, it is an interesting experiment if nothing else. Looking to lighten the weight of the Y-Carriage. Existing aluminum Y-carriages weigh in at 220 grams, our experimental, all carbon fiber Y-Carriage comes in at 203 grams.
Pretty sure with some aggressive lightening hole placement we could reduce that by another 40 grams or so, for a total of 57 gram weight saving on the Y-Carriage.
We need to get it tapped and installed on a MK#S+ test bed for actual performance under operating conditions, heat, vibration, etc.
